Dentist shot dead
A dentist was shot dead inside his own clinic while with his 3-year-old son Tuesday morning in Pasay City.
The lone gunman entered the clinic on the second floor of Don Antonio Building on Arnaiz Avenue and fired several times at Dr. Carlos Tan Acuesta, 49, a resident of Barangay Bangkal, Makati City, police said.
Pasay City,philippines police chief Senior Supt. Rodolfo Llorca said Acuesta was shot in the face and that the gunman was seen by a relative of the victim before and after the shooting. LINK

NGO moves HC on medical, dental admissions
Forum for Fairness in Education (FFE) has sought Bombay High Court (HC) intervention to stop alleged non-compliance with Supreme Court (SC) orders regarding admission to private medical and dental colleges. Thursday, it had sent a notice to medical education secretary Iqbal Singh Chahal for allegedly issuing a corrigendum to exclude private unaided colleges from SC guidelines. - See more

CBI arrests cardiologist in bribe case
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Cardiologist of Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital & Research Centre, Bhilai(Chhattisgarh) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/-
A trap was laid and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant.

Dentist to head 700 crore medical college/hospital

Dental council and other health depts now open to Right to Information Act
Various services from the Health Directorate, Medical Education Directorate, Radiation Safety Directorate,the Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur; Kerala State Nurses and Public Health Nurses Welfare Board, Malabar Cancer Centre,National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Child Development Centre, Kerala Nurses and Midwifery Council,Native Medicines  Department,Office of the State Drugs Controller, Kerala Paramedical Council, Homoeopathy Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram; Kerala State  Pharmacy Council, Kerala State AIDS Control Society, Kerala State Homoeopathy Co-operative Society (HOMCO), Office of the Ayurveda  Medical Education, Government Ayurveda Medical College (Thiruvananthapuram/ Tripunithura/ Kannur), Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram; Kochi Medical Council and Kerala Dental Council will be made available to the public within the stipulated time frame,in accordance with the RTS. Shortage of Faculty
As per the information furnished by the three Councils, there is no shortage of faculty in the dental colleges in the country as per the DCI.MCI has informed that there is a varying degree of shortage of teachers in the medical colleges though they do not have any specific information in this regard. The Indian Nursing Council has informed that there is a shortage of MSc (Nursing) qualified teaching faculty in the country. AIIMS New Delhi has informed that there is no shortage of teaching faculty in the Institute.  LINK

Delhi High Court rules doctors not responsible if patients do not respond to treatment
A Delhi High Court said a doctor cannot be held liable if the patient has not responded favourably to a treatment.
The order came out after the court refused to frame charges against two doctors and three nurses of RBTB Hospital accused of causing a man’s death due to negligence.
Court added that it was the court’s obligation to ensure that doctors and medical practitioners are protected from frivolous and unjust prosecution and they be summoned only in cases of high degree of culpable criminal negligence.  MORE HERE

NEET- PG medical entrance-SC verdict delayed
With the much-awaited judgment on the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the post-graduation medical courses, which is affecting the future of nearly 90,000 students, not being delivered even today – the last day of Supreme Court’s functioning before the summer vacations commence on Monday.
The future of 90,000 doctors across the country has been in question, as the results of NEET, which were to be declared on Jan 31, are being held back on the orders of the apex court due to pending litigation. The NEET  PG was conducted in Nov 2012. Verdict may NOW come on July 2 after the court re-opens after summer ..MORE HERE
