Government gives nod to 58 new medical colleges
The Union government on Thursday approved a proposal to set up 58 new medical colleges by upgrading district hospitals across the country, which will create another 5,800 MBBS seats.
Currently, there are fewer than 50,000 MBBS seats nationwide even as the country faces an acute shortage of doctors. MORE HERE

Young doctor’s college notes become ‘Wikipedia of medicine’
A medical student who shared his notes online has found unexpected success after his popular website was voted by medical professionals as a global industry innovator. Tom Leach, who studied medicine at Manchester University, at the Royal Bolton Hospital , initially simply shared his notes with friends — who passed them on.
