DCI membership cancelled – Games people play ..
Out of two Andhra Pradesh natives who were nominated to the Dental Council of India (DCI) as Manipur State nominees, one has been cancelled and replaced by Dr Nabachandra of RIMS at the recommendation of the State Government, stated Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing.
He further clarified that the two Andhra Pradesh natives were selected as State nominees to DCI as a result of their own efforts.
However, DCI has agreed to cancel nomination of one of the two and replace him/her with Dr Nabachandra in the interest of the State. NEWSLINK

Trouble at Mansarovar Dental college- Students lock college gate
BDS students locked college’s main gate on Wednesday as a mark of protest against Barkatullah University’s decision to make all students write supplementary exam again. Students have decided to agitate till their demand – to make only BDS scam accused students write exam again.

Several tainted member in new MCI
People for Better Treatment (PBT), a charitable organization working to establish a better healthcare delivery system in India, has written a memorandum to Health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad pointing out that at least 17 doctors out of the 68 new members nominated or elected to the new Medical Council of India (MCI) were part of the previous MCI which was dissolved in 2010 on ground of rampant corruption. “Doctors think I am out to get them. But I am a doctor myself. I have no personal enmity with them. But we have to have a proper regulatory system and that starts with the state medical councils and the Medical Council of India ( MCI) which are riddled with corruption. New coating process for implants reduces infection risk
Finnish researchers have developed a new surface treatment process for orthopedic and dental implants that may reduce the risk of infection.
Implants are commonly made from titanium alloys, which are made porous to prepare them for medical use. While this ensures good contact between the implant and bone, it also allows bacteria to adhere and grow both on the surface as well as inside, leading to an increased risk of infection. Karnataka medical education minister Sharana Prakash R Patil on Wednesday declared that poor and meritorious students would not be left out of the new admission system. He said the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) Act 2006 would ensure transparency and merit, and also hinted that the government would come up with a mechanism to help poor scholars.
