As per the GOI order of 30th Aug, 2013, Govt of India has made the above committee to review various aspects of dentistry education including review of dentists act 1948 and to restructure DCI.

3 Fraud dentists raided, clinic sealed
GURGAON: City police booked three ‘dentists’, who were running clinics without licences in the city. While one of them has been arrested, the other two managed to flee. Police also sealed the clinics after a raid on Wednesday, which was conducted by the district drug controller, with officials of the health department and members of the Indian Dental Association of Gurgaon.
The arrested ‘doctor’ has been identified as Bablu Kumar. The team raided the Vishal dental clinic, the Deepak dental clinic and the Nutan dental clinic were running unauthorized dental clinics at the Shaki Park, Khandsa Road, Teekona Park and 4/8 Marla in old Gurgaon respectively. MORE HERE
STF probing role of dental colleges in BDS scam
The special task force (STF) probing the BDS examination scam is trying to look into the alleged nexus between the three people arrested on Sunday and the officials of Barkatullah University, Bhopal. STF personnel had arrested a lab technician and two first year students during their search at Rishiraj Dental College and People’s Dental College.

Indian dentist doctor husband arrested in Australia
There seem to be end to the woes of the 36-year-old India-born doctor who was jailed for sexual assault but won an appeal in an Australian tribunal against his deportation.
Suhail Ahmad Khan Durani who managed to have his right to live in Australia, reinstated in May, has been taken into custody by the Immigration Department in Perth. The doctor’s wife, Indian dentist Falaq Durani had pleaded for “compassion” towards their four-year-old son. LINK
Dentist accused of sex assault found dead
PORTLAND – Police found a Portland dentist dead from an apparent suicide at his home Monday when they tried to serve him a search warrant as part of a sexual assault investigation. Portland police went to the home of Joshua Moffitt who was under investigation for multiple sexual assaults involving two victims who were juveniles at the time of the incidents. LINK

A study published in the Journal of Implantology has introduced a new, more advanced method for bone and tissue regeneration that prevents infection (August 2013, Vol. 39:4, pp. 503-509).
Acellular dermis matrix replacement material called decellularized dermis matrix that, combined with mineralized bone grafts called mineralized cancellous bone allograft, guides the regeneration of bone to allow for a more stable placement of the implant.

Foreign educational institutions may soon set up campuses in India, with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) and the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) supporting the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s proposal to permit foreign universities to enter India under the Companies Act. In an official statement released on Tuesday, the HRD Ministry said it “is in the process of finalising the UGC (Established and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Educational Institutions) Rules by which foreign universities can set up campus in India and issue foreign degrees.” MORE HERE
