Dental Council of India in its meeting held on 10th & 11th June, 2013 considered the representation dated 9.2.2013 from Dr. Usha Mohan Das, President and Chief Mentor, FACIDE, Bangalore addressed to the President, Karnataka State Dental College, Bangalore for taking necessary action on their representation and their copy is endorsed to DCI, and after discussion & deliberations decided as under:-

Abu Dhabi dental clinic fined Dh150,000 over botched surgery
The man paid Dh75,000 (about 40,000 USD) for 13 teeth implants the medical centre told him he needed, but the surgery went wrong. A medical Committee assigned to look into the case also found the surgery had not been necessary.
The Civil Court awarded him half of the Dh300,000 he had sought in compensation. The cost of the original operation was Dh150,000 – the man had paid half this amount and Daman covered the rest. NEWSLINK

Dr Anil kr Chandna was declared elected unopposed by CCU – , it is interesting to note that this is his 3rd term, 1st from Delhi state, 2nd from Annamalai university (he has practice in Delhi). Presently faculty in ITS
There was a case reg his Annamalai nomination where in court observed that it is needed that DCI probed such nominations of dentists who get nominations from university where they have no active role and it is just a sham. LINK

Tooth loss leads to memory loss
Researchers looked at 273 people ages 55 and older, and found a modest but significant relationship between a person’s number of natural teeth and his or her performance on memory tests.
While the reason for the link isn’t entirely clear, the new findings are in line with previous animal and human studies, suggesting that the presence of natural teeth has an impact on cognitive function, and having fewer teeth may be regarded as a risk factor for memory problems in the elderly, according to the researchers.
