MUMBAI: A 25-year-old dentist has committed suicide in Kandivali (west) on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The police said he hanged himself to death at his residence after being depressed for being jobless. The doctor Bhavik Talsania was recently sacked. “Talsania has left a suicide note in which he has held no one responsible behind taking an extreme step. He lived at Modi Nagar in Iraniwadi area of Kandivali with his mother and brother,” said an officer from Kandivali police station. ..NEWSLINK

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All dental clinics in Kerala will have to get registration from the state dental council. The government took such a decision after several complaints arose that people with no adequate qualification were opening dental clinics in several parts of the state. The government has decided to give powers to the state dental council to inspect and scrutinize the certificates of doctors who are running clinics. MORE HERE

Delhi dentist bites, beats and burns teen maid
NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl employed as a domestic worker has been rescued with injuries allegedly inflicted by her employer, a dentist (Dr Nidhi Chaudhary), who lives in Model Town’s Kalyan Vihar in north-west Delhi. A tribal from Jharkhand, the child was allegedly bitten, beaten and burnt in the past four months after she was placed there by an agency, according to Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
The police have registered an FIR invoking sections pertaining to “causing hurt” and under Bonded Labour Act, said DCP, north-west, Aslam Khan. She said the employer, Nidhi Chaudhary, has been arrested. The office of the placement agency was raided on Friday night after the girl was rescued. It is suspected that the girl may have been bought by an agent from Jharkhand. NEWSLINK

Delhi Dental (Delhi Dental council registrar) arrested by CBI in Bribery case
CBI, while probing a corruption case, arrested Dr Rishi Raj (Registrar of Delhi Dental Council) and N Pradeep Sharma (Advocate, Delhi Dental Council) on Saturday night while taking Rs 4.73 lakh bribe from a complainant for getting him favourable order from Delhi Dental Council and also for extending help in further legal proceedings in his matter. The arrested DDC functionaries had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 15 lakh. Following their arrest, the agency teams searched their residences and found safe inside Rishi Raj’s house.
A deposit slip of bank counter foils pertaining to cheque deposits worth Rs 2 crore in 2011 in the name of Jain, his wife Poonam Jain and a company linked to them – JJ Ideal State Pvt Company; 41 cheque-books reflecting transactions worth crores by Jain and family apart from Rs 24 lakh cash and half kg gold were also recovered from the locker, said CBI person. US woman files cheating complaint against Chandigarh dentist
A US-BASED woman, Gertrude D’Souza, has filed a complaint against Dr Mohit Dhawan, a dental specialist who runs a clinic in Sector 21, for allegedly cheating her of Rs 7.13 lakh by providing dental implants of “poor quality” and also on the pretext of bearing the expenses of her hotel stay here and of travel to several hill stations. D’Souza lodged the complaint through email with the Chandigarh police and an FIR was registered Tuesday.
