BDS students arrested and released
In a separate development, two students were arrested in connection with the Bachelor of Dental Sciences ( BDS) scam. Those arrested include Shailendra Dubey, a resident of Vidisha, who was studying in third year of People’s Dental College, and Richa, a studnet of Bhabha Dental College. She studied in second year. They were later released as they had secured anticipatory bail from the court earlier. TOI NEWS
American dentist face uncertain future
CHICAGO, USA: According to the latest figures published by the American Dental Association (ADA) last week, dentists in the U.S. are more optimistic about the economic conditions in their practices compared with last year. However, they are still not fully confident about the future of the economy.
The fourth quarter results from the Dentists’ Economic Confidence Survey showed that the average score for dentists’ confidence regarding the economic conditions in their practices was -26 on a scale of -100 (fully pessimistic) to 100 (fully optimistic) MORE HERE

Sydney dental patients exposed to HIV/Hepatitis ?
Nearly 1,000 people have been warned they may have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis or other infectious disease at two Sydney dental clinics where equipment was not properly sterilised.

Perio disease linked to higher risk of oral cancer
Periodontal disease encompasses gingivitis and periodontitis, which exerts systemic effects. A population based study to evaluated the association between periodontal disease and the risk of cancer. The findings indicated that patients in the periodontitis cohort exhibited a higher risk of developing oral cancer than those in the gingivitis cohort. LINK
Oral B ad directed to be withdrawn
The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has asked Proctor & Gamble (P&G) to withdraw or modify its Oral-B advertisement campaign for violating ASCI’s advertising code.

Parliamentarians urge MCI to protect whistleblowers
