Dental student commits suicide
Solan, Dec 13 (UNI)A 26-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the fan at his house in industrial township of Baddi, police said.
Baddi Superintendent of Police Basher Singh Chauhan today said the preliminary investigations revealed that the youth, identified as Ritvik Tiwari, was studying in IIIrd year of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in a local dental college. NEWSLINK

58% Decay in school kids

MDS Entrance deferred
The entrance examination for admission to postgraduate dental courses in the state, scheduled on January 3, 2016, has been postponed. The revised examination date and notification of details for the online application will be announced in due course, a statement from the office of the commissioner of entrance examinations said here on Friday.
However, the other entrance examinations scheduled on the day (January 3) for admission to other postgraduate medical degree/diploma courses in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode will be held as per schedule….LINK

Pre RCT pain leads to more anesthesia failure

The current study focused on the lower teeth of more than 175 adults in India. These patients were rated as having mild, moderate, or severe pain in one lower-jaw molar before their root canal. All were given a standard local anesthetic. The injection was considered a failure if the patient continued to feel pain during the root canal procedure.  The authors found that the amount of pain presurgery affected the successfulness of the anesthesia. Patients with more pain before the root canal were more likely to feel pain during the procedure. In the study, 33% of patients with mild pain before the root canal felt no pain or only mild pain during the procedure, but only 16% of patients with severe pain had a painless surgery….NEWSLINK …….Article LINK
