Permission to 3 dental colleges refused in Punjab
Permission refused to 3 dental colleges and 2 medical colleges. The decision is likely to affect over 300 MBBS and 200 BDS seats in the state.
The colleges are Punjab Institute of Medical Scienceu (PIMS), Jalandhar; Chintpurni Medical College and Hospital, Pathankot; SKS Sarabha Dental College, Sarabha; Rayat Bahra Dental College, Mohali; and Sri Sukhmani Dental College, Dera Bassi. NEWSLINK

Street dentists shine in India
Ignoring noisy buses and curious onlookers, street dentist Allah Baksh plunges his hands into a patient’s mouth to fit a sparkling set of dentures for $12 in the Indian city of Bangalore.
With his plastic stool, mirror and glass cases of teeth on display, Baksh is among hundreds of such dentists frowned upon by their licenced counterparts in rapidly modernising India.
But the 54-year-old insists he is providing an essential service to tens of millions of poor who cannot afford a visit to a sterilised clinic.

Now, preliminary results from a new study conducted at the University of São Paulo have indicated that special mouth and tongue exercises can help reduce snoring significantly. Ozone holds promise for treating gum infections
A powerful new antiseptic agent, called ozone nanobubble water, holds promise for the treatment of periodontitis, or severe gum infections, according to research published in the journal Science and Technology of Advanced Materials.
The study, by Professor Shinichi Arakawa and colleagues, evaluated the bactericidal activities of ozone nano-bubble water — also known as NBW3 — against the two main bacterial agents that cause periodontitis. It also assessed NBW3’s toxicity to human oral tissue cells. MORE HERE

Dentures with high tech, NO border molding
The device, which he is calling Air Scan, uses jets attached to an intraoral scanner that pulsate air into the narrow area between the gum and upper cheek. The design allows dentists to create denture impressions from the scanner without border molding.
“If you know five dentists, you know five different ways of making dentures. I wanted to streamline this denture-making method,” Dr. Weisenberg told DrBicuspid.com. “I’m trying to replace the need to use gray stick compound by using air to load that soft tissue, with the scanner head right there to record everything.” ..NEWSLINK
