Revolution in Rotary Endo- XPENDO
Based on the shape-memory principles of the NiTi alloy and thanks to its extraordinary capacity to expand, the XP-endo file is able to treat root canals with highly complex morphologies, from the narrowest to the largest, and from the straightest to the most severely curved canals.
Because of its small core size – ISO 25 in diameter – and its zero taper, XP-endo Finisher benefits from incredible flexibility and shows unparalleled resistance to cyclic fatigue. In addition the file will contact and clean the dentine but NOT change the original shape of the canal….MORE HERE

Introducing the Naked Dentist
As the Naked Dentist, I will remove all the “clothing,” those items that cover up the flaws hidden within the practice. But not only will I uncover these flaws, I will offer solutions — what can be done to improve the practice so that it looks good throughout, not just on the surface. Each month my team and I will analyze a new practice — undress the practice, if you will. We will point out the positives and those things that — simply put — just don’t look good. MORE HERE

A fresh notification was issued because the earlier one had lapsed. HT had reported in October last year that the previous proposal of banning raw chewable tobacco products was pending with the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) for final approval for six months. LINK

A new tool to fight dental disease
Zisheng Tang and colleagues point out that dentists often prescribe traditional antibiotics to get rid of bacteria that cause tooth decay or gum disease. But with the rise in antibiotic resistance, new approaches are needed to address these problems, which can lead to tooth loss. Previous studies have demonstrated that graphene oxide — carbon nanosheets studded with oxygen groups — is a promising material in biomedical applications. It can inhibit the growth of some bacterial strains with minimal harm to mammalian cells. MORE HERE

Studying Tooth Enamel Nanostructure May Lead To Less Time With The Dentist’s Drill
Though it’s been known for decades that various trace ions are important for tooth enamel’s tough structure, it had been impossible to map their distribution in meaningful detail.
We solved this long-standing problem using atom probe tomography, a powerful atomic-scale microscopy and micro-analysis technique. It allowed us to make out the enamel’s nanoscale composition and structure. Our research identified never-before-seen amorphous biominerals and how they contribute to both mechanical hardness and the resistance of enamel to acid dissolution. Understanding more about the mechanism of how teeth decay will hopefully lead to innovations in its prevention and treatment. FULL ARTICLE
