BDS aspirant gets Rs 5 lakh compensation
Finding fault with officials for setting a humanly impossible deadline of 90 minutes to a Dalit BDS course aspirant girl to get her seat alloted in a college 450 km away from here, resulting in her forfeiting it, the Madras High Court has awarded her a Rs five lakh compensation.
The court was disposing of a petition by the candidate, A.E Durga, who lost an opportunity to pursue BDS course this year, because she was allotted the seat on the last date of admission and asked to join the college in Madurai..LINK

Center lowers upper age limit, reduces number of attempts

New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government on Tuesday lowered the upper age limit for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants.
Llimit for general category will be 26, down from 30, for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) 28 from 33 and for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories it will be down to 29 from 35.
The number of attempts has also been reduced to 3.  LINK
Dr. S. Surekha, 28, a postgraduate in dental surgery, said she was making the first attempt this year. “I am shocked that there is a move to cut the upper age limit. many like me who have planned to write the civil service exams this year.” LINK
Four crore compensation awarded-Tooth root in sinus

An inspection revealed the upper right molar had extensive decay under an existing filling.
Dr Ng told her the options were either a tooth extraction or root canal therapy.
