Mumbai Dentist gets cheated for 30 Lakhs by conman
A 52-year-old man, who had posed as a government official and knocked out Rs 30.44 lakh from a borivali dentist Dr Shaunak Thakkar, was arrested on Sunday.
Conman Anees Arnalkar had offered flats to dentist under the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) scheme. Borivali police said Arnalkar used to commute in a car with a red beacon, carried visiting cards and frequently travelled by air. TIME S NEWS
Bandra dentist penalized by consumer forum
The Bandra District Consumer Redressal Forum has directed a Kandivali-based dentist to pay Rs 75,000 to a woman for deficiency in service. The dentist, Dr Shaung Lo Chen, allegedly administered wrong treatment and extracted two of her healthy teeth.
The forum asked Dr Chen to pay the sum within eight weeks, failing which he would also have to pay an interest of nine per cent for the period of delay. MORE HERE
Dentist disciplined for employing child labor
Chennai- A city dentist, who employed a child labourer at home, was ordered by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to conduct dental camps in the government children’s homes for free. The dentist’s family not only exploited the child but also used to beat her.
The doctor, who travels across the globe to treat his celebrity patients, reasoned that he employed the child only to help out her poor family. The CWC members were shocked when the doctor claimed that he should not be punished for his ‘generosity’. NEWSLINK

Indian dentist banned in FIJI
THE Fiji Medical and Dental Secretariat (FMDS) has called on the public to cease using the services of Dr Shashi Prasad after her practicing license was revoked on Monday May 6.

A private medical college is under scrutiny for selling seats. The Health Ministry and Medical Council of India have cracked down on the People’s Medical College in Madhya Pradesh. Link between tooth whiteners and oral cancer
A small study suggests that the incorrect use of tooth whiteners might be a risk factor in oral cancer among those under 45.
One case in ten of oral cancer occurs in the under-45s and often there is no clear risk factor, like heavy drinking or heavy smoking, involved. Tooth whitening agents contain carbamide peroxide, which breaks down to hydrogen peroxide – a bleaching agent which has also been shown to produce cancer in animals. MORE HERE
